Disco has been making a massive revival over the last year, but how much do you really know about its New York roots? Larry Levan, West End Records and the Paradise Garage have influenced everyone from Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, Marc Almond and Boy George through to Greg Wilson, Crazy P, Horse Meat Disco and Killer Whale. Arthur Russell – the talent behind Loose Joints, amongst a plethora of monikers – has recently had a flurry of interest around him. Without Disco we wouldn’t have the dance music scene we have today. Here are some clips from some documentaries well worth checking out further.
